If you're planning to attend the Premiere Event: Mary and the Witch's Flower, which opens in theaters Thursday, January 18th, 2018, you'll be interested to know that some theaters will be distributing commerative items related to the movie.

While supplies last, the following items are available at participating exhibitors as follows:

  • Regal Entertainment Group is offering a collectible ticket to the first 200 attendees at each theater location.
  • AMC is offering a limited edition collectible pin to the first 200 attendees at each theater location.
  • Cinemark is offering a limited edition Japanese mini-poster to the first 200 attendees at each theater location.

This is a special, one-night event that pairs the movie with additional programming, including an exclusive interview with the filmmakers. An English-dubbed version is playing at 7pm and a subtitled version is playing at 8pm (both times are local to each theater).

To find out where the Fathom events are happening and when, and to purchase advance tickets online, please visit the Showtimes page for Premiere Event: Mary and the Witch's Flower.

The movie is also playing (without the additional content and swag) at other theaters. You can find showtimes and tickets available on the Showtimes page for Mary and the Witch's Flower (Meari to majo no hana).

The movie is based on the 1971 children's novel The Little Broomstick, which was itself an inspiration for the Harry Potter stories.

Mary, an ordinary twelve-year-old girl, is bored and lonely during a summer holiday. She follows an odd cat into the nearby woods where she stumbles upon a flower and then a little broomstick. Together the flower and broomstick whisk her above the clouds, far away to Endor College – a school of magic! At Endor, Mary tells a lie that leads to peril, and then a promise, while discovering that all is not as it seems at the school – there are experiments that horrify. Soon she confronts great danger, and a test of her resolve.
