The State Theatre in Sioux Falls, South Dakota has been a fixture in the city's downtown since 1926 and continues to show movies to this day. That kind of history does not come without restoration efforts, however, and the website for the theater does mention that some extensive effort was put into keeping the theater intact.

The fruits of that labor were borne out in December 2020, when the theater's screen was illuminated after 30 years of darkness. As befitting the time of year, the 1954 classic White Christmas was shown to the public on opening night.

One of our readers sent us photos of the State Theatre for everyone to enjoy, including the photo above. While the theater's original blade-style sign did not make a return, an updated version of the marquee from the 1940s is on display for everyone going down South Phillips Avenue.
