The Palace Theatre in Spooner, Wisconsin closed in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and never reopened. However, the theater was purchased recently, which gives hope to movies lighting up the big screen again sometime soon.
The news was published in a recent article by the Spooner Advocate (see list below). The article mentions that the Wiltzius family has purchased the theater, the paint store next door, and the attached building in the back of the theater. A Class B liquor license has been approved, which allows the theater to sell beer and wine.
There is no mention of an anticipated opening date.
Until it opens, moviegoers in the area will need to continue visiting one of the other nearby theaters, including the Hayward Cinema in Hayward, the Timbers Theater in Siren, and the CEC Theatres - Lake 7 Theatre in Rice Lake.
