The Zion Canyon Giant Screen Theatre in Springdale, Utah closed on January 13, 2017. The news was announced on the theater's Facebook page at the end of December 2016:

It is with the saddest of hearts that we announce the closing of the Zion Canyon Theatre. Our last day open will be January 12, 2017. We appreciate all of the support and well wishes that have been expressed to us at this time. We would like to thank you for letting us entertain you over the past 22 years. We hope to see you before we close and hope you would like to share your memories with us about the theatre. If you are unable to visit before we close we would like for you to email us your memories. You can email me at ziontheatre@[-------].com. Again thank you for the past 22 years of being apart of your lives.

The theater's web site confirmed the news and continues to carry the following message:

It is with the saddest of hearts that we announce the closing of the Zion Canyon Theatre. Our last business day will be Thursday, January 12, 2017.

Thank you for the past 22 years of support and thank you for letting us entertain you.

The theater originally opened in 1994 and featured a screen that measured 60 feet high and 82 feet across. In addition to the traditional documentaries that IMAX/Giant Screen theaters at tourist destinations were initially known for, the theater also played mainstream movies.

Update: If you were hoping that the theater would reopen, those hopes are pretty slim given that the theater was selling off its seats for $5 each.
