The Regal College Station in Springfield, Missouri has closed. Its last day of operation was January 5, 2023.

The movie theater posted the following message to its Facebook page recently:

Hello College Station Family,

We want to thank you for all of your support over the years as your downtown theatre. We have loved getting to know you and seeing the smiles on your faces as you experience the thrill of movies over the years. We are sad to announce that our doors will be closing permanently this next week with our last day of operation being 1/5/23. We invite you back for one last visit to say goodbye as we all move on to new things. If you are looking for another Regal to visit, we invite you to Regal Northstar in Joplin MO as the next closest theatre.

Best Wishes,
Your College Station Theatre

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Moxie Cinema and the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema - Springfield. The closest Regal location is the Regal Northstar in Joplin, which is more than an hour away.

Theater History

According to our records, the theater originally opened November 7, 2008 as the Hollywood Theaters - College Station Stadium 14. It became the Regal College Station Stadium 14 in May 2013 when Regal Entertainment Group acquired Hollywood Theaters, and was later renamed to the Regal College Station.

UK-based Cineworld acquired Regal Entertainment Group in 2017. The coronavirus pandemic forced all of its theaters to close in March 2020. Cineworld filed for bankruptcy in September 2022 and has been closing locations in many locations since.
