The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema - City Foundry in St. Louis, Missouri is now open to the public.

Located in the City Foundry STL development in Midtown St. Louis between Forest Park Avenue and I-65, just west of Grand Boulevard (Father Biondi SJ Way), the movie theater is being operated by Texas-based Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas. It is the second Missouri location for the company (the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema - Springfield is the other), which has locations in thirteen other states as well as the District of Columbia.

City Foundry STL has a food hall, retail stores, and entertainment options. Parking is available in a multi-level parking garage behind the theater and two surface lots nearby. Bus stops can be found along Grand Avenue and Lindell Boulevard to the north.

The ten-screen movie theater was first announced in May 2021, when a Spring 2022 opening was planned. That plan was updated later that year to be Summer 2022. Here it is December, but at least they made it before the end of the year!

All seating is reserved, and Alamo is famous for its no-texting and no-talking policies. Latecomers are also not allowed into the auditorium after the movie starts, so their focus is definitely on keeping the movie experience as enjoyable as possible.

Theater Amenities

Alamo's website lists the following amenities for the new movie theater:

• 10 auditoriums seat 932 guests, each seat with its own swivel table with cup holder
• Dine-in service brought to your seats by our ninja-trained wait staff
• All seating is assigned and can be reserved in person or through online purchase
• Full food and drink menus with every course: appetizer, entree, dessert, as well as Vegan-friendly options. Full bar options including innovative cocktails, spirits, award-winning milkshakes and a huge local selection of draft beers.
• A kids menu featuring a la carte options
• The Meaning of Bar, a bar and game room honoring 42 of the most absurd movies of all time. 48 beers on tap with a focus on the thriving local craft scene. The bar will also be the starting point of a puzzle that runs throughout the building

Showtimes and Tickets

Until now, moviegoers in the area needed to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Chase Park Plaza Cinemas and the Saint Louis Science Center OMNIMAX. The theater is just a few blocks south of the former Moolah Theatre & Lounge on Lindell Boulevard, which closed when the pandemic hit and became one of the many theaters across the country that never reopened afterward.
