Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens - An IMAX 3D Experience will take over all of IMAX's large-format screens in North America and most foreign countries for four weeks, according to a recent article published in The Hollywood Reporter:

For Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Imax is going big — really big. For the first four weeks of its run, set to begin Dec. 18, J.J. Abrams' sequel will have all of Imax's large-format screens in North America and most of its foreign screens to itself. Imax reserving all of its screens for a single movie for a month is not unprecedented, but it is unusual. The company had a similar deal for the three Hobbit movies, but it struck that pact four years ago and hasn't made that type of commitment since.

The movie opens on December 18, 2015, which means that any movie hoping to play on an IMAX screen until the middle of January 2016 is out of luck. According to our Movies Coming Soon page, that leaves In the Heart of the Sea: An IMAX 3D Experience with just one week to play in IMAX auditoriums before it gets bumped. The article also mentions an IMAX release for Leonardo DiCaprio's The Revenant, which opens in limited release on December 25th and wider on January 8th, but neither the IMAX web site nor the movie's official web site mention an IMAX edition of the movie.
