It took longer than expected, but the former Cinemagic movie theater in Sturbridge, Massachusetts has reopened.

Located in the Center at Hobbs Brook shopping center on Charlton Road near I-90 and I-84, the Cinemagic in Sturbridge closed in February 2021 when parent company Zyacorp Inc. closed all its locations. Last August, we reported that the movie theater would be reopening under new management. A late September or early October opening date was expected, but never happened.

The Entertainment Cinemas - Sturbridge Luxury Cinemas finally opened to the public February 28, 2025. Its opening was announced on the theater's Facebook page the day before. Entertainment Cinemas operates five locations in Massachussetts and Maine, with a new theater, titled Bill Hanney's Entertainment Experience, is expected to open in Hyannis this summer.

According to an article published on MassLive.com at the time of its opening (see list below), the theater has seen some upgrades, including reclining chairs and a full kitchen with chair-side delivery is coming.

Showtimes

Until now, moviegoers in the area needed to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Blackstone Valley 14: Cinema de Lux in Millbury and the Cinema-Worcester in Worcester.
