Three movie theaters operated by Landmark Theatres will be getting upgrades. The theaters affected are in Bethesda, Maryland, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The news was reported by industry publication Deadline recently (see link below). It mentions that the three theaters will be upgraded as follows:
The Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema in Bethesda, Maryland will be getting a new marquee, a redesigned lobby, a new gaming area, expanded concessions, and luxury recliners in the auditoriums.
The Landmark Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge, Massachusetts will have a new premium large format (PLF) auditorium that can host screenings and live events, updated projection and sound systems, and a new bar and lounge.
The Landmark Lagoon Cinema in Minneapolis, Minnesota (see the 2013 photo above) will have what's called a "complete transformation" that will feature a new full-service bar, updated lobby, and luxury recliners and updated projection and sound systems.
Landmark Theatres currently operates 26 locations around the country, but the article mentions that it has closed 32 locations since the covid pandemic shut down theaters across the country. The most recent closure happened when the Landmark E Street Cinema in Washington, DC closed earlier this month.
Theater investments are always good news to us here at The BigScreen Cinema Guide! It's a sign that the theater's owners believe in the operation and are interested in improving the moviegoing experience for its customers. Here's hoping that the communities surrounding these theaters responds in kind and checks out the improvements!
