Underworld and Resident Evil: Afterlife are coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc starting in December 2016, according to a press release issued recently by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Both movies are being released with HDR 4K video and (remixed) Dolby Atmos soundtracks, and each includes all the bonus materials from earlier Blu-ray releases.

We've added both titles to the list of movies released on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.

Underworld opened in 2003 and starred Kate Beckinsale as a beautiful vampire warrior who falls in love with Scott Speedman. This would be fine, except that he's a newly-turned werewolf, which is the mortal enemy of vampires.

The movie was the first installment in the Underworld franchise. The next installment is Underworld: Blood Wars, which will be released in theaters on January 6th, 2017.

Cover ArtworkResident Evil: Afterlife

After a one-woman assault on the Umbrella Corporation’s fortress, Alice's (Milla Jovovich) superhuman abilities are neutralized. Now, fleeing the Undead masses created by the T-virus, Alice reunites with Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) and her brother, Chris (Wentworth Miller). Together they take refuge with other survivors in an abandoned prison, where a savage zombie mob stands between them and the safety of "Arcadia." Escaping these bloodthirsty mutants will take an arsenal. But facing off with Albert Wesker and the Umbrella Corporation will take the fight for survival to a new level of danger.

Opening in theaters in 2010, this is the fourth installment of the Resident Evil franchise, which started with Resident Evil in 2002. The next movie in the series is Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which will be released in theaters on January 27, 2017.
