In January, we visited the AMC Hawthorn 12 in Vernon Hills, Illinois, and it's taken me a while to process the photos that I took while we were there.

Located in the Hawthorn Mall on East Townline Road and Milwaukee Avenue in this northern suburb of Chicago, the AMC Hawthorn features a Dolby Cinema auditorium and a MacGuffins bar. The theater originally opened in May 2015 and this was one of the first Dolby Cinema locations in the country.

The ticket counter is self-service for the most part, with an employee available to help you purchase your tickets from kiosk stations. Once you have your tickets, you proceed up an escalator to the main lobby area, which is very well lit from floor-to-ceiling windows. The MacGuffins bar, concession stand, and guest services desk greet you at the top of the escalator, with hallways leading to the auditoriums. The Dolby Cinema is located just left of the concession stand and is this location's largest auditorium.
