News agency Reuters is reporting that WalMart will be offering $100 gift cards with each Blu-ray player purchased between June 8, 2008 and June 14, 2008. This includes the PlayStation 3 game console, which is our pick for the best Blu-ray player available, and the only one we'd recommend purchasing.
The store chain that Sam Walton built is also reportedly increasing the number of Blu-ray players it's selling to include Magnavox, Samsung, and Panasonic. Select Blu-ray titles will be on sale for $15, including 3:10 to Yuma, Shooter and 300.
I'm no fan of WalMart, and I only shop there when they have special deals like this. The store closest to me had no Blu-ray players or movies the last time I was there (which was two weeks ago), so if they started carrying one movie, that would be an increase over what they had. For someone like me, that $100 gift card could last quite a while, but I know of other people who patronize the store more often than they buy gas, so a $100 gift card is as good as cash back for them.
