The Landmark E Street Cinema in Washington, D.C. will be closing soon.

Located in the Lincoln Square Building, its entrance is off E Street between 10th and 11th Street, just four blocks east of the White House and across the street from Ford's Theatre. The eight-screen movie theater is operated by Landmark Theatres and bills itself as specializing in independent and foreign language movies, documentaries, and classic movies. Landmark opened the theater January 9, 2004. You can view photos of the theater on its Photo Gallery page.

According to an article published recently in The Washington Post (see list below), the theater is anticipated to close sometime this spring. A company spokesman is quoted in news reports as saying that the theater has struggled after the industry-wide impact of the coronavirus pandemic that started in 2020.

When Will It Close?

An exact closing date has not been announced. The Washington Post article quotes the head of brand and marketing for Landmark Theatres as saying that the theater's last day "will be confirmed soon." If you enjoy going to this theater, this is your sign to enjoy it while it lasts, because tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Showtimes and Tickets

Until it closes for good, you can see what's playing and when, and buy tickets online, by visiting the Showtimes page for the Landmark E Street Cinema.

When the screens do go dark, moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Shakespeare Theatre and the Regal Gallery Place Stadium 14. The closest Landmark Theatres location is the Landmark Atlantic Plumbing Cinema on V Street.
