The District Theatres in Webster, Texas has closed. The last time we received showtimes updates for the theater was September 1, 2021.

The theater posted the following message recently to its website and Facebook page:

It’s with a heavy heart today, that after 17 years operating a movie theater in the Point Nasa Development, we have made the very tough decision to close the doors.

The location that started it all for our company is dear to our hearts, but unfortunately, our landlord has failed to maintain the foundation, roof, and overall shopping center to a standard that was acceptable to us and to what our guests deserve.

We vigorously negotiated with the landlord to come to a viable solution not only economically, but more importantly, which would improve the maintenance of the shopping center, ensuring the safety and comfort of our guests and employees in order to create a long-term sustainable future for our brand.

We sincerely thank the community for the enormous amount of support over nearly two decades. We look forward to serving you at our sister company, Star Cinema Grill, at the Baybrook Mall and our many other Houston area locations.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Premiere Cinemas - Premiere Nasa Dollar 8 and Cinemark 18 and XD in Webster and the Star Cinema Grill - Baybrook in Friendswood.

According to our records, the theater was originally opened by General Cinema on August 29, 1986 as the Point Nasa Cinema 6. It became the Star Cinema Grill - Clear Lake in 2005, which closed November 29, 2015. It opened in July 2017 as the District Theatres.
