The New Strand Theatre in West Liberty, Iowa has closed.
The last time we received showtimes updates for the theater was January 26, 2024, and in a short post on the theater's website dated February 2, 2024, it states:
We are currently experiencing some issues with our old projector. We will be closed while we update and replace the projector. More information coming soon.
According to a message posted to what appears to be the theater's Facebook page on February 2, they need to upgrade the projector. A crowdfunding campaign is available to help the theater raise funds to purchase a replacement projector. (Since we have not confirmed the authenticity of the campaign, we will not link to it.)
Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Fridley - Palms Theatre in Muscatine, the Marcus Sycamore Cinema in Iowa City, and the FilmScene at The Chauncey in Iowa City.
