The MJR Westland Cinema in Westland, Michigan will be getting an immersive ScreenX installation soon. The technology provides a 270-degree panoramic field of view using three projectors, and this is the third such installation for MJR Theatres in Michigan (preceded by the MJR Waterford Cinema in Waterford Township, which debuted in June, and the MJR Marketplace Cinema in Sterling Heights which opened in November).

We experienced ScreenX when it made its Wisconsin debut in September 2023 at the Marcus Ridge Cinemas in New Berlin, Wisconsin. As with all such enhancements, its impact was more effective with some scenes and some types of movies than others. Experiencing a full presentation of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One was enjoyable.

The tickets for ScreenX presentations at the MJR Marketplace are $5 more for an evening show, elevating an $11 ticket to $16, which is 46% more. Two adults and two children will be paying $60 for an evening show, so be prepared when you purchase your tickets!

We don't know exactly when the ScreenX auditorium will make its entrance at the MJR Westland Cinema, but we'll keep you updated when we hear more!

Amenities at the MJR Westland Cinema

When it debuts, ScreenX will join a list of amenities for moviegoers at this location. The Laser Ultra auditorium features a 4K laser-powered digital projection system, an immersive Dolby Atmos sound system, and zero-gravity heated recliners. VIP Seats in the auditoriums are 2-or-3 seat pods that have zero-gravity heated recliners, side tables, storage compartments, coat hooks, and privacy enclosures. Other seating consists of leather recliners with deep aisles for leg room.

Additionally, there is a Studio Bar & Lounge, which offers handcrafted cocktails, wine, and craft beer selections that you can take into the movie with you.
