Theater Closings Articles
The Dipson Eastern Hills Cinema in Williamsville, New York has closed.
Located about eleven miles northeast of downtown Buffalo in the Eastern Hills Mall, the last time we received showtimes updates for the movie theater was Friday, September 30, 2022.
The theater posted an announcement of the closure on its Facebook page:
Dipson Theatres is announcing the closure of their Eastern Hills Mall theatre.
Prior to the pandemic, this location was an independent art theatre for upscale and foreign films. These films became essentially non-existent. The company shifted to first-run movies after being closed for 16 months due to the pandemic, but with the location in proximity to major competition, it quickly became very challenging.
Dipson Theatres would like to thank their loyal customers for their decades of support. Now more than ever, it is imperative to support your locally owned and operated businesses. Dipson Theatres is exactly that, locally owned and operated in WNY since 1939.
All of our wonderful team members have been offered positions at our other Dipson locations.
Any existing gift cards will be accepted at all Dipson locations.
Dipson Theatres include FLIX STADIUM 10, The Amherst Theatre, The McKinley Mall Cinema, and The Transit Drive-In, Lakewood Cinema 8, Chautauqua Mall & Warren Mall.
Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the the Regal Transit Center & IMAX in Williamsville, the AMC Maple Ridge 8 in Amherst, and the Regal Walden Galleria Stadium 16 & RPX in Buffalo. According to our records, the theater originally opened May 24, 1972 as the Eastern Hills Cinema I & II (by General Cinema Corporation). We're not sure when Dipson Theatres took over.
