After much speculation amid a flurry of release date changes and how they would affect the December 25 release of Wonder Woman 1984, Warner Bros. has finally announced its plans for what was expected to be the biggest movie of the year.

In addition to the planned theatrical release, the sequel to 2017's Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot will be shown on Warner's streaming service HBO Max on Christmas Day as well. In contrast to how Disney handled the release of Mulan in September, HBO Max subscribers will not have to pay extra to watch the movie at home.

HBO Max charges $14.99 per month for the service, after a 7-day free trial. The trick for Warner Bros. will be to hook people that sign up for a free trial just to watch Wonder Woman 1984 into keeping their monthly subscriptions. Otherwise, they will be putting a high-profile property at risk and sacrificing the full theatrical release revenue it could have otherwise enjoyed.

It's too early for advance showtimes to be available, but you can check out all the photos that we have for the movie on the Photo Gallery page, as well as the two trailers on the Trailers & Videos page. (There is a new trailer on YouTube, but the only difference between that one and the "Trailer 2" we already have is the final title card that mentions the HBO Max release.)
