The AMC Woodridge 18 in Woodridge, Illinois closed this week.

Located on the southeast corner of I-55 and I-355 on Woodward Avenue, the theater originally opened in 1999 as the Loews Woodridge. It later became the AMC Loews Woodridge 18, which was simplified in a branding update a few years ago.

While no reason could be found for the theater's closure, AMC has taken quite a hit this year as a result of the pandemic-related shutdown of movie theaters across the country.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the iPic Theaters - Bolingbrook in Bolingbrook and Hollywood Blvd. in Woodridge and Cinemark at Seven Bridges and IMAX in Woodridge. The closest AMC locations are the AMC Showplace Naperville 16 in Naperville and the AMC Dine-In Theatres Yorktown 18 in Lombard (both about nine miles away).
