The Boardman Movies 8 in Youngstown, Ohio will be closing at the end of the year.

The news was announced recently on the theater's Facebook page, where it was explained that the movie theater would close by December 31, 2025. "It's official. December 31st, 2025 will be our last day open... We just wanted to say thank you for your support over the last eleven years. We could not have asked for a better community."

The video follows one that was posted on the theater's Facebook page in early September warning that the theater may be closing at a later date due to business challenges after the covid pandemic shut down movie theaters across the country in 2020. Both messages mention the lack of reclining seats and alcohol sales as amenities that customers were requesting, but that they weren't able to provide.

Located in the Shops at Boardman Park shopping center on Boardman Poland Road just west of I-680, the movie theater is operated by Encore Cinemas. It originally opened in February 1993. It closed in 2014 as the Cinemark Movies 8 - Youngstown. It reopened in later that year as the Boardman Movies 8. While the company's location in Niles closed in 2022, it continues to operate the Skyway Twin Drive-In Theatre in Warren.
