We visited the Marcus Elgin Cinema in Elgin, Illinois in May 2023 when we toured the Emagine Batavia while it was under construction. The photos from that visit are now available in the Photo Gallery for the theater. Located on Randall Road just south of Highway 20, the theater is operated by Marcus Theatres Corporation, which has nearly 80 locations around the country. The 96th Annual Academy Awards ceremony was held Sunday, March 10, 2024, and it was no surprise that Oppenheimer took home the majority of the awards, including for Best Picture and Director. If you're in the northern Chicago suburb of Skokie, Illinois, and you want to watch a movie, you have some options. The southeast part of Skokie has the AMC Village Crossing 18 on West Touhy Avenue, and if you're on the north part of town, the Old Orchard Shopping Center on Old Orchard Road and Skokie Boulevard is where you want to go. Milestones
We have added two new searches to our Advanced Search tool. The first is for finding Movies Playing in ScreenX and the second is for Movies Playing in 4DX. About ScreenX ScreenX uses multiple projectors to display a 270 degree panoramic image which covers the sidewalls of the auditorium as well as the primary screen in front of you. Theater Openings & Improvements
The former Regal Brass Mill in Waterbury, Connecticut closed in October 2022, but now it appears that movies are coming back to the shopping center along I-84. A recent news article mentioned that the new theater could be open as soon as early April, but it is not yet showing movies. Until we have an official name, we're going to refer to this theater as the Apple Cinemas - Brass Mill and will update it accordingly if/when new information becomes available. Theater Closings
The Chunky's Nashua Cinema & Pub in Nashua, New Hampshire will be closing May 9, 2024. The news was announced on the theater's Facebook page recently: It is with sadness that we announce the closing of our Nashua location on May 9, 2024. Gift cards, prepaid admissions and complimentary admissions will be accepted until May 9th in Nashua and can be used at our Manchester location. Our staff will be offered positions in Manchester.
