Grand Opening

The theater is planning to first-run movies, including 17 Again, State of Play, and Crank: High Voltage.

The press release states that Regal is largest and most geographically diverse theatre circuit in the United States, with 6,782 screens in 550 theatres in 39 states.

Westchester Commons is a retail center built upon what appears to have been 128 acres of trees (see the satellite image in the map above). It is part of the 640 acre Watkins Centre project. Swapping 640 acres of wooded land with asphalt parking lots and buildings doesn't seem to be very "green," but perhaps some of the stores will sell copies of Planet Earth on DVD so people can see what forests with trees really look like... I found a news article that mentions that officials say the entire project will generate $11 million annually in property and sales taxes. Hopefully, they save some of that for stormwater treatment, pollution abatement, and health care for local residents!
