Monterey Park, CA: AMC Atlantic Times Square 14 Opened August 27, 2010

Posted on Wednesday, September 1st, 2010 12:41 PM

The AMC Atlantic Times Square 14 opened to moviegoers on Friday, August 27, 2010, in the Atlantic Times Square mixed-use development in Monterey Park, California. The new theater features all digital projection systems and four of the 14 auditoriums will be capable of showing 3D movies.

According to the press release issued by AMC Entertainment Inc. last week, the projectors at the AMC Atlantic Times Square 14 will be 4K units, which means that they will be 4096 pixels by 2160 pixels, which is four times the resolution of HDTV and the 2K systems that are in many movie theaters. (See the link above for why this may not be the major improvement it would initially seem to be.) The release also mentions that some auditoriums will boast screens that are "three stories high and 50-feet wide."

The concession stand will be offering more than just popcorn and soft drinks. Guests will be able to enjoy made-to-order snack items such as chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and French fries, and drinks such as espresso, lattes, drip and frozen coffee products, and fruit smoothies.

Other amenities listed in the press release include:

  • Fourteen auditoriums with approximately 3,000 total seats.
  • Stadium seating, with 18-inch risers and 48-inch row spacing for perfectly clear, unobstructed views.
  • AMC’s exclusive LoveSeat®-style seating featuring "rocking" backs and lifting cupholder armrests.
  • Six-channel digital audio for clear, dynamic distortion-free audio and lifelike special effects.
  • Pre-show entertainment with a first-look access to movies, television, music, sports and advertising.
  • Advance credit card tickets sales by phone or online
  • Three automated box offices for easy ticket purchasing and advance ticket order pick-up.
