Copyright © 2009 Premiere Cinema Corp All Rights ReservedPremiere Cinema Corp. announced plans today for the Grand Opening of the Rio Rancho Premiere Cinema 14 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on June 9, 2011. The new theater is located at the intersection of Southern and Unser Boulevard, south of the Wal Mart Super Center and behind Starbucks and Chili's.

The theater will feature Digital Cinema Projection systems and 7.1 channel sound systems in all 14 auditoriums.

"We are super-excited to be here," said Matt Kerekes, Premiere's Managing Director who recently moved to Rio Rancho with his wife and two daughters (ages 5 and 7) to take over the reins of the state-of-the-art facility. "I've had the opportunity of operating nice cinemas from New York to Florida for different companies but nothing like this one," he said. "The features, the technology, the attention to detail . . . this is really a remarkable complex; Rio Rancho deserves the best and they're getting it for sure."

As part of the Grand Opening celebration, they will be offering guests free movies all day, starting at 11:30am. The movies being shown will include Academy Award nominees, such as True Grit, The King's Speech, Toy Story 3, The Fighter, Inception, Black Swan, The Social Network, 127 Hours, and Winter's Bone.

Later that night, the theater will be playing midnight showings of current releases, including Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Kung Fu Panda 2, The Hangover Part II, and X-Men: First Class. Also playing that night will be Steven Spielberg's new action movie, Super 8, which officially opens in theaters the following day.

(The exact lineup of movies may change without notice)

We'll have the theater's showtimes for its first full day of business, so keep an eye on the Showtimes page for updates, and be sure to add this theater to your Favorite Theaters to make it easy to find!

The area will have another theater when the proposed Century-branded movie theater is opened just two miles south of the Premiere Cinema's location in The Village at Rio Rancho. That 12-screen project was announced by Cinemark last July with an anticipated May opening date. Since Cinemark's web site does not mention this project on its Grand Openings page, it is unknown when it will open.

Premiere Cinemas Corp. owns and/or operates 20 other locations in Alabama, Florida, and Texas.

Rio Rancho, NM - Premiere Cinema Corp. has announced the dates for its grand opening and "open house movie event" of the new Rio Rancho Premiere Cinema for June 9th, and it includes free movies for everyone in attendance!

The theatre which has been in the works at the intersection of Southern & Unser Boulevards since September represents the return of movies to Rio Rancho. The City has been without a movie theatre to call its own since the closing of the Village Twin in the nineties.

The location at Southern & Unser was selected for the project back in 2010 due to its presence at one of Rio Rancho's largest intersections and multiple means of ingress and egress to the major thoroughfares. The cinema is located directly south of Wal Mart Super Center behind Starbucks, Chili's and other restaurants including a new Five Guy's Burgers. Premiere's towering all-stadium-seating megaplex can be seen from miles coming from almost any direction and represents a milestone for Rio Rancho's progress and evolution. The theatre initially is opening with 14 screens and is expandable with additional screens including enhanced large-format auditoriums. The site currently has 661 parking spaces, which exceeds the parking stalls required by code by 25%.

"What's exciting is that we don't have to leave town for entertainment now," said Rio Rancho's Mayor, Tom Swisstack. "This is something that has been missing in our City for a long time."

Tentative opening events to commemorate the opening of the new entertainment complex have been scheduled as follows:

THURS - JUNE 9th - OPEN HOUSE and FREE MOVIES ALL DAY - DOORS OPEN AT 11:30 a.m.**

"Our FREE MOVIE event on Thursday is to give area residents a 'sneak preview' of their new theatre," said Mr. Kerekes. "We're bringing in the Oscar-nominated movies for Best Picture from this past year and scheduling show times sets all day which I'm personally excited about because I didn't have a chance to see all of them." The preliminary lineup of Best-Picture Nominees to be shown during this event include the following:

"True Grit" "King's Speech" "Toy Story 3" "The Fighter" "Inception" "Black Swan" "Social Network" "127 Hours" "Winter's Bone"

All features are presented in Premiere's exclusive 100% digital projection and 7:1 surround sound format, both Premiere 'exclusives' in the Albuquerque area. The concession stand will be open for business with all-beef hot dogs, chili/cheese/jalapeno nachos, fresh hot popcorn popped hourly, ice cold soft drinks and ICEE frozen beverages, crisp pickles, your favorite selection of candy, and a Premiere all-time favorite "Dippin Dots" ice cream, "The Ice Cream of the Future".
