The Cinemark Temple and XD in Temple, Texas is now open and showing movies. Plans for the 12-screen movie theater were announced in September 2012, which is located at 4501 S. General Bruce Drive near I-35 and Midway Road.
The new theater features one of Cinemark's big-screen concept XD auditoriums, which usually offers a larger screen, upgraded sound system, and better seating in exchange for an additional fee. There's no mention of what size the screen will be, but the press release does mention that the XD screen will have a Barco Auro 11.1 sound system installation. It appears that every auditorium will have a 4K Digital Cinema Projection system, which is the highest resolution available for commercial movie theaters.

A press release issued by the company yesterday mentions that Cinemark is partnering with Food for Families in a food drive:
Everyone who brings in a can of food will receive a coupon for a free popcorn and soft drink, which can be used at the new theatre. The offer is limited to one coupon per person per day, but it is redeemable at the theatre until January 31, 2014.
"Food For Families" is an annual food drive to collect non-perishable items for local area food banks and pantries in nine counties all across Central Texas.
There will be a free screening of the holiday classic movie, It's a Wonderful Life, on Saturday morning at 10am and Santa Claus will be at the theater from Noon-4pm on Saturday to get the last-minute updates from kids and have a photo taken with him.
The new theater is very close to the Premiere Cinemas - Temple Premiere Cinema 16 and Grand Avenue Theaters (both are less than five miles away), so moviegoers in the Temple area have quite a few choices when it comes to seeing movies on the big screen!
