Posted on Wednesday, June 18th, 2014 1:35 PM

Movie Tavern LogoMovie Tavern announced plans this week to begin construction on a new eight-screen movie theater in Flourtown, Pennsylvania. When it opens in 2015, it will join the Movie Tavern Providence Town Center in Collegeville as the company's second location in Pennsylvania.

In the press release, President and CEO John H. Hersker is quoted as saying:

We are very excited to bring Movie Tavern to Flourtown, as part of our plan to increase our presence in the Philadelphia market after we found such tremendous success in Collegeville. We look forward to providing families in Flourtown and surrounding cities the movie-going experience they deserve with offerings that merge both cutting edge technology and modern convenience with great value.

Movie Tavern offers customers an in-theater dining experience, with a "chef-inspired" menu and selections from a full bar. This location will have luxury reclining seats that can be reserved ahead of time.

The closest theaters to Flourtown are the AMC Plymouth Meeting Mall 12 in Plymouth Meeting and the Ambler Theater in Ambler (both less than five miles away, but neither appear to offer in-theater dining. There are quite a few theaters in the area, which is located north of downtown Philadelphia.

There are a total of 17 Movie Tavern locations in Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia.

I am very excited and eager for this movie theatre to happen to this area. I know it's going to be a huge success after visiting the Collegeville location. However, I am disappointed on how long this construction is taking. It is almost 2 years in the making. Opening date has been pushed back three times. Just looking forward to experiencing dinner and movie locally with my family.
