Carmike Cinemas announced today that the grand opening of the new Carmike Coastal Cinemas 10 in Yulee, Florida will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015. The first movies will be shown to the public starting at 6pm Thursday evening.

To celebrate, Carmike will be hosting a charitable event on Friday, benefiting the Nassau Humane Society, by offering $2 movie tickets, drinks, and popcorn until 8pm.

All guests who attend the theater opening weekend can enjoy a free (small) fountain drink from the theater's new Coca-Cola Freestyle machine, which offers a large variety of flavored drinks at the touch of a button.

The new theater will offer traditional concession items as well as an expanded hot food menu and guests 21 and over can order from a selection of beer and wine as well.

Headlining the new theater is Carmike's large-format BigD auditorium, which features a screen that is "nearby 60 feet wide and just under three stories tall" and an upgraded sound system to match, which will command a $2 upcharge from the normal ticket prices.

The closest competition for the theater is the Regal River City Marketplace Stadium 14 in Jacksonville and the GTC Kings Bay 9 Cinemas in St. Mary's, Georgia, both of which are 9-12 miles away. Carmike closed the Carmike Island 7 in Fernandina Beach in November 2014.
