One of the standout hits from the summer of 2006 was "The Devil Wears Prada" starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. It nearly recovered its $35M budget in the first weekend, and went on to earn over $124M in theaters.
It was released on DVD in December and then in January, Streep was nominated for an Academy Award® as was costume designer Patricia Field (probably a good thing for a movie about fashion).
While Hathaway and Streep were the stars of the movie, the standout performances come from Stanley Tucci and (to a lesser extent) Emily Blunt. Most of the time, Hathaway seems to be trying to keep up with the other three, but the combination of the four makes for an enjoyable movie.
