Milestones
When Wicked was released in theaters in November, it was a sensation in more ways than one! Along with spending nine weeks in the Top 10 Box Office Report, getting ten Academy Award nominations, and making almost $500 million in North America alone, it has a sequel coming later this year that will complete the story. Theater Openings & Improvements
Nearly two years after closing, the Park Place Cinemas in Charleston, West Virginia will be opening again soon. Located on Washington Street East between Laidley Street and Summers Street, the 11-screen movie theater closed in May 2024 as the Greater Huntington Park Place Stadium Cinemas. Theater Closings
The historic Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Illinois is an icon of the city, with its blade sign along State Street serving as a de facto emblem for the city. Designed by the Rapp & Rapp architectural firm and opened in 1921, it stopped showing movies on a regular basis in 1985 and is now known more for its live performances.
