\"Total Recall\" from 1990 has it\'s moments. but not enough to recommend. what made me hate the film. You can start with the women with the three breasts. How about that R rating that most of the people under 18 yend to ignore. Despite the warnings that the nfilm is a R rating, kids keep sneaking in the back. Oh yeah, the rest of this movie. It\'/s pretty bad. Arnold Schwarzagger seems board and the film lost my intrest. Feb 14, 2004
Could have been good. For it's time it was a fairly slick sci-fi with some decent, even ground breaking specialFX and is a lot better than some of Arnolds other films of the same era (see, or rather don't see, Running Man and Commando) Although way too violent to make it more than just an interesting evenings viewing; And with a particularly rushed and silly ending. If it's seen as a free 'weekly' video rental, or for free on TV, then you might as well sit through it. 5/10 Aug 9, 2012

This is definitely a movie of its time. Contemporary audiences may not understand why it was so popular at the time, but trust me, it was! Director Paul Verhoeven is not known for pulling punches, so you're going to get violent action, crass visuals, and dialog that makes you chuckle and wince, often at the same time. This is the man that brought us Robocop, after all. You will not see Academy Award winning performances here. No awards for the screenplay either. But what you will get is an 80s action flick (it was released in 1990) that is worth the time it takes to watch it. The 2012 remake is OK, but aside from the improved CGI and arguably a better Lori, the original is more fun. Looking for more opinions?Check out our Featured Movie Reviews for Total Recall. |
