A great love story between two women that takes in a era that forbids this type of sexuality. Kate Blanchett and Rooney Mara are two women from bad relationship who came together on road trip together and things began to change for them. Blanchett who played the title role of Carol Aird is married to a hothead as they fought over the guardianship of their daughter. Mara, who played Therese Belivet is having difficult relationship issues. Both women are thrown together in a torrid love relationship that is very sexual. it's great to see two woman in a sexual embrace. the last time that i saw this, it was in 'Blue is the Warmest Color" back in 2013 The performances are great especially from Blanchett and Mara, but it was Mara who stood out in the movie. Her appealing performance deserves her Best Supporting Oscar Nomination. When I saw her performance in "Pan" a few months ago, Mara is the only good thing that came out of this movie. Now in 'Carol" she is a true standout. The film is directed by Todd Haynes who put together this drama that doesn't have one phony moment in the movie. I hate to see the movie end.
