Ed Harris gave the performance of a lifetime in "Pollock," a drama about the life of a famous painter. Harris who also directed and co-produced the movie, protrayed Jackson Pollack, as a troubled, soul whose paintings brought him nothing but pain. Marcia Gay Harden, in a thankless role, played Pollack's long suffering wife, which won her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.(I thought Kate Hudson would take it for "Almost Famous") Harris did a very good job of being both actor and director. He really got into his life, a way no other filmmaker could. Watching Harris interpering the way Pollack uses his brush strokes is alone wroth the price of admission. May 8, 2001
If you like biographies at all, you should see this movie. It is a tragic story. The creators are faithful to simply represent the personality of the man and his life, rather than putting an interpretive, hollywood, pretentious spin on it. You can decide what made him what he was for yourself. You can also see some excellent paintings. Worth seeing. Looking for more opinions?Check out our Featured Movie Reviews for Pollock. |
