They say that movies are best enjoyed when your expectations are low, and most of the time that's true. But not for Top Gun: Maverick. I think you will find that a majority of the people coming out of the theater would tell you that this is an excellent movie, was well worth the pandemic delay, and they might even be willing to see it again.

Yes, (IMO), it's that good.

The links to the original are numerous, but not overbearing and gratuitous. The story line is pretty straight-forward, but it's the music and action scenes that really suck you in and have you sitting on the edge of your seat.

Sorry that I've hyped the movie this much. It's a dud, and you probably won't like it. But you better go see it on the biggest screen and loudest sound system around.

Enjoy!

This movie is one of those rare sequels that meets and quite possibly exceeds the original!

I'm a fan of the 1986 original movie, and I had heard good things about the movie, so my expectations were higher than I wanted them to be. Usually, sequels disappoint and the best you can hope for is to enjoy the time spent while it's being spent.

However, my reaction after this was "Wow, that was really good!" I would have seen it again immediately.

If you haven't seen Top Gun, there are quite a few references that you will not understand or appreciate, but nonetheless, you would probably still like it. It's a standalone movie, but knowledge of what came before will definitely increase the enjoyment factor.
