This movie is probably better known for the issues that came up during its publicity than for the word of mouth that might have been generated by those who have seen the movie. It's not a good sign when a movie is better known for whether Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine at an event than for their respective performances in the movie. That said, this movie plays out like one made by M. Night Shyamalan. The concept sounds interesting, and even the first act grabs you and makes you wonder how everything is going to turn out, but then the plot falls apart, interesting possibilities in the storyline are never fully explored, and good performances are wasted when the movie finishes with a lackluster ending. Florence Pugh saves this movie from being a complete disaster, and Chris Pine excels at being mysterious, intriguing, and ultimately dislikeable excuse for a man. It makes one wonder if the end result was anything like the movie that these actors were pitched when they signed on. All in all, it's not a horrible movie, but it's not very good either. I can't think of any reason why I would ever watch it again. Looking for more opinions?Check out our Featured Movie Reviews for Don't Worry Darling. |
