Terribly scripted movie. Very disappointed!

An overly long biopic about a legend in music. I recall hearing his music when I was growing up but I never saw him as the megastar that he was, especially in his prime. I do remember the older girls in my grade school crying when the news of his death arrived, but it didn’t have the same meaning to me.

There’s no denying his impact on music history, though, so you would think that a movie about him would be compelling. Maybe it is to someone older than me, but I found this movie to be rather uninteresting. I expected it to cause me to want to dig through his catalog of songs to appreciate them on a better level than before, but that was not my experience.

I would be very interested to talk about the movie with a bigger fan, especially someone who lived during his career, to see if they had a different impression of the movie.
