"Simone" has plenty to say about virtual reality, but doesn't have much to say about Hollywood as a whole. That's where the film went wrong. Al Pacino played a struggling director whose leading lady (Winoma Ryder) walked off after a contract dispute, theatening to sue if the film is release. Pacino has come up with a plan to replaced her with a image he'd created on the computer, and name her Simone. Later in the movie, she became a sucess with both the fans and the critics. Pacino now sees her a Frankenstein monster with high heels. "Simone" has a lot going for this film, but never took advange of them. Pacino, who gave at least 110% in each picture, now seems tired. Even Simone herself didn't do much with her character. I was hoping that she'll brak out like Hal in the 1968 film "2001:A Space Odyssey," but she never did. There are some scenes in "Simone" that reminded me of Italian Director Federico Fellini, but still it's not enough to recommend. May 6, 2013
