I'd give this a "poor" rating. If you're gonna see it anyway, make sure you see it big and loud. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother. A movie that needs a narrator to explain the story line as it plays out isn't a good thing IMO. Expect plenty of ape on ape and monster on monster violence, plus a "baby Kong" that's annoying. The more I think about it, the more I don't recommend it. It's not "stay away" bad, but it isn't very good.

What a mess. This movie wasn’t bad enough to warrant a Stay Away rating but it comes really close.

It plays out like the Marvel superhero movies at their nadir. All action and fight-fests without a storyline or characters to believe in or care about. When exposition dumps are necessary to explain what’s going on, you’ve lost track of how to make an effective movie.

There are glimmers of goodness. There’s hints at campiness that try to resurrect the movie, but they’re too few and too far between to satisfy the viewer.

I own all the recent Godzilla and Kong movies, but I can’t recommend even paying to rent this. It was included with a MAX streaming subscription, so at least I’m not out $2.99 for a rental.
