Great movie! Read the book and enjoyed the movie very much. Very good acting.

What a powerful movie with great acting by all. I believe this movie should be seen by all parents to visualize the damage that can be done by those who "love" their children and yet live only for themselves. There is redemption in this movie but at what cost? If you like deep, thought provoking movies, this is for you.

Four strong performances are the reason why I'm recommeding "White Oleander."

The film is based on a novel by Janet Fitch, is about a girl who gets railroaded from one foster home to another, after her single mother has been arrested for the murder of her boyfriend. "White Oleander" is the flower which is grown in Los Angeles, which the poison has came from.

Alison Lohman, gave a strong performance as a girl who is stuck between her demanding mother and red tape. Robin Wright-Penn played the first foster mother whose christian lifestyle cloide with her bad behavior. Renee Zellwegwer in a rare dramatic performance played her second foster mother. Michelle Pfeiffer played her mother.

All four woman gave strong performances in a film which doesn't question the foster care system, but the film centers on a girl, whose only girl is to be loved. I felt her pain and that's why I'm recommeding the film.

The book is written by Fitch, which could've been written by someone like Charles Dickens, had he lived in 21st Century America.
