I find it hard to recommend Brian De Palma's latest film to anyone, but I also don't think that it's so bad to give it a "Stay Away!" rating.

Not surprisingly, the advertising for "Femme Fatale" leans heavily on the sex appeal of lead Rebecca Romijn-Stamos. Those looking to see more of her than when she was in X-Men will not be disappointed, but it is perhaps this aspect that distracts the focus from being the suspense mystery that it is.

I suspect that there is an audience for Femme Fatale that will find it very entertaining and a fine piece of filmmaking, but that audience would not include myself or the dozens of others at the showing I attended.

My recommendation is to wait for this to be released on DVD, in the hope that the extras (director's commentary, featurettes, etc.) will shed some light on De Palma's intent and help the viewer to appreciate the movie more.

"Femme Fatale" is not one of the best films of the year, but Brain DePalma's best film period. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos gives the best performance of her career, which reminded me of Sharon Stone's performance in "Basic Instincts," ten years ago.

She paid a jewel thief whose is being chased by the people she betrayed. The film also featured the hottest lesbian love scene since "Kissing Jessica Stein." So what do you got to lose?

This is a film that loves to surprise us and to thrill us. That what movies are suppose to do. Last week the film is in 9th place at the box office.

While people are still flocking to dull movies like "The Ring," and "I Spy," you should ignored the box office numbers and see this film now. It won't be around for long. You will never see a better movie like "Femme Fatale."

I really enjoyed this movie. While not for everyone, and despite the sexuality, it had enough suspense to keep me guessing and an interesting plot twist, just when I was thinking it was going to end typically.
