"Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" is the life story of television genius and game show host Chuck Barris. The film is based on the autobiography that Barris wrote. The film detail Barris' rise to the top, and also told his secret job as an assassin.

George Clooney, who directed his first film, also appears as a operative, Julie Roberts also appears as a mystery woman and Drew Barrymore as his long suffering girlfriend. The film also has tape interviews with those who knew Barris the most including Jaye P. Morgan who I had a crush on while watching "The Gong Show" in the 1970's.

"Confession of a Dangerous Mind" is a great movie, because we the audience can get to probe the mind of a genius and decide whatever or not Barris is kidding or not. You can compare that film with another great film from that celebrates the 1960's and 70's. That film is "Catch Me If You Can."

Solid directorial debut by George Clooney, who also has a supporting role. Should be enjoyable for Charlie Kaufman or Gong Show fans.

The film tries to be so many things - autobiography, thriller, who-done-it, romance, psychological drama, and more. It's appeal is that it is unconventional, but it also just misses because it is spread too thinly to really score in any one area.
