\"Dickie Roberts:Former Child Stars,\" is a film about a wash-up child star named Dickie Roberts, played by David Spade who moved in with a family for a month to research for an important movie role. While watching this film I was reminded of a line from the 1995 film \"While You Were Sleeping\" with Sandra Bullock. That line was, \"You can\'t join a family like you join the marines.\" Although the chemistry between spade and the family worked very well, the film lacked the humor. Instead we get a middle-finger joke ever 10 to 15 minutes. But I like the fake documentary on Roberts in an E! True Hollywood Story send-up. Also in the end, while all the child stars banded together in a \"We are the World\" send up. there are some good stuff from this film if Spade can get together a good script. Good intentions can not recommend movies. Sep 17, 2003
