Oscar-worthy look at aging. Aug 28, 2007
With the exception of \"Dr. Zhivago,\" I have never saw a movie with Julie Christie. Until \"Away from Her.\" It\'s the story of a couple whose the wife, played by Christie, who is suffering from Alzheimer\'s disease. She conivined her husband that she wants to be in a home. What I like about her character is that she doesn\'t fit the sterotype of a Alzheimer patient. Alzheimer\'s disease is a rare topic on the big screen and is usually is dealt with on television. \"Away From Her\" is a rare movie that is not peachy about it\'s subject matter. The cast is fine, but Christie blew me away. She\'s 67 and is still a very sexy woman. Sarah Polly (\"Go\") made her directing debut. And she did a fine job. she appears as the younger character of Chrisite. Gordon Pinsent gave a very good performance. But like I said before I like the performance of Julie Christie. The reason why I attended the movie is not because of the subject matter, by because of Christie. She\'s the best thing about this movie. I\'ll be counting down the days untiul I have a chance to see her in \"McCabe and Mrs. Miller.\" Looking for more opinions?Check out our Featured Movie Reviews for Away From Her. |
