One of the best science fiction movies, came out in 1968. "2001:A Space Odyssey," is a film that changed the science fiction gerne forever. This is my second favorite Stanley Kurbrick movie, after "Dr. Strangelove." "2001" began with apes roaming the earth until they saw the monolith. After the leader touch it, he has the ability to think. Later a group of astronauts on a mission to Juipter, began having trouble with a computer named HAL. HAL is not only the best thing, but the most memoriable thing in this film. A computer who obay every command, suddenely revolts against the human is vers scary indeed. "2001:A Space Odyssey" has led to better science fiction movies like the Star Wars series. With "2001:A Space Odyssey," science fiction on the big screen began to gain a lot of respect. May 22, 2002
Probably the first Sci-Fi with believable special effects. The effects are great, the performances solid. The music is teriffic and helped make classical music popular to a new generation. The story is well told and........fascinating. I will say one thing though. If you've never seen 2001 before and have never read the book, READ THE BOOK FIRST. Because if you don't, you are very likely to be highly confused about the ending. 7/10 Any comments about my comments are welcomed fdperth@wiredcity.com.au Jul 11, 2012
