I thought it was a warm and funny movie. I didn't care much for the cruise ship part, but it was short, it did keep me from saying see now though. Predictable, sappy, and good. Apr 10, 2008

A sweet wonderful family movie about a fiction writer named Alexander Rover who comes to the aid of one of her fans, when her father got lost at sea. She thinks that the Alex Rover, the hero of many novels is real. She wants to rescue her fan, One major problem, Alexander has too many phobias and won't leave the house. After she got over that she must get though airplanes, boat, and storms in order to get to her troubled fan. Jodie Foster, who been in many heavy roles plays it light. The last time that she's in a light role was in "Freaky Friday." that was way back in 1976. it's nice to see Foster enjoying herself for a change. Gerard bulter plays both the fan's father and the her Alex Rover, who appears from time to time giving the other Alex Rover advice. But the best reason why I really love this movie is because of Abigail Breslin. she's the real heart and soul of this movie. Every time she's on the big screen, I just can't take my eyes off her. Both kids and adults will love this movie. You'll have fun on "Nim's Island." May 6, 2008
Mediocre, but good for the kids who have the chance to dream while seeing this movie Aug 18, 2008
I had such high hopes for this film. I like the actors and the plot sounded fun, but I was sorely disappointed. The characters were flat and one dimensional and the animals were cartoonish. If you must see it, wait and rent it, or wait till it's out on Nickelodeon and see it for free. Jul 15, 2009
