When you remake a bad TV show, should one be surprised if the movie is bad? Well, I was surprised that it was THIS bad. LetÂ’s count the problems: Woeful dialogue, uneventful "action" scenes, blaring music to the point of insanity, a formula plot with corrupt cops (ho hum), failed attempt at comedy relief (Giovanni Ribisi acts more retarded in "The Mod Squad" than he did in "The Other Sister")...Should I continue? Why wasnÂ’t there any damage to the front end of the Continental after it rear ends a Town Car in the predictable car wash incident? WhatÂ’s with the fat guy who likes dancing with Linc? And why were his relatives (or whoever those Hanson-like kids were on the plane) introduced and then never heard from again? Most importantly, why am I trying to make sense of any of this when I have obviously given more time and effort into writing this review for the last 10 minutes than the filmmakers obviously gave in creating "The Mod Squad?"

10-point scale rating: 2

I can't give The Mod Squad a Stay Away rating, I like the actors too much. It's not the actors fault that they weren't given much to work with. Every aspect of the plot is something we've seen before, again and again, the plot doesn't even do a good job following suit:

corrupt cops -can't you pick them out as soon as they open their mouths
a lover who isn't what he seems - they don't even tell us where he came from
underachievers trying to prove themselves, but keep on underachieveing
I kept saying to myself, "WHEN are they going to straighten up?" - of course they do once someone they care about dies

I usually don't say it during a show, but I found myself repeating, "I don't like this movie."

I was so bored in the movie waiting for something to like, I found myself peeping out production mistakes. I don't think this was a mistake, but Claire Danes' love interest drove a Sevile STS the first time he's shown driving. When Danes steals the car, she's driving an Eldorado ETC. When she's burning the car it's a Seville SLS.

Don't bother

I see 2 to 3 movies a week, and I can tell you this is one of the worst movies I have seen in a very long time. You could tell from the very first minute that The Mod Squad would be horrible. Then the sad part is that it got worse. It is pointless to describe what was bad about the movie because I do not have the energy to type of two hours. The one thing I did like about the movie was Claire Dane, as I thought she was great looking. But that certainly is not enought to justify spending money and this absolutly horrid movie. Jeff Brand

A horrorble remake of the 1960\'s/70\'s cop show which define of how cops are protrayed on TV. Aside from the casting of the young cops, There is nothing to recommend. The young cops are out to find those who killed their boss. The screenplay badly needs a rewrite and the villains are a bore. The only person I like in this movie is Claire Danes.
