I was really looking forward to seeing a good romantic comedy, however, I was very disappointed. The situation that brought the two stars together in the film was unbelievable. The characters were stereo types and seemed more like cardboard cutouts than real people. Alan Alda's character was the only redeeming feature of this movie. He actually made me laugh. The movie seemed to drag and I found myself wishing there would be some relief. The ending was predictable and welcomed. I regret that I paid full price for this debacle!

"Object of my Affection" was a mixed up parade of mix-and-match gay partners, irresponsible living and general social confusion. I just about left in the middle.

Jennifer Aniston, whom I really like despite her limited range, plays the female lead, Nina, who meets and befriends a devout gay, George at one of Nina's sister's "dreadfully dry" parties. In short order, George becomes Nina's roommate after a breakup with his wickedly egotistical and narcissistic partner, Jolie.

Gay or not, George can't help but develop a certain spark with Nina, leading to some great chemistry in several scenes. But Nina's just not enough to change George's underlying nature that easily and the movie keeps us teetering on the edge of hope for poor Nina.

The last third of the movie treats us only to increasingly explicit (and to this heterosexual male, vaguely nauseating) scenes of gay male affection. While it's not what you would expect from a film of this type, the ending is, at least, an understandable and plausible resolution.

Unless you really like Jennifer Aniston (this must be her best silver screen effort yet), or truly enjoy exploring the complex social relationships that surround the gay lifestyle, I wouldn't waste time with this film.

I think this movie was great. It was a hopeless love story that somehow worked out in the end. The outcome of this story is not what you expect, that's what keeps your focus on the screen. The end was my favorite part, because even though turn outs like that are rarely seen in real life, everyone was happy in the end.

Let me start off saying, I didn't like this movie. That said, I will state that I don't mean to say this is a "bad" movie. The movie's plot centers around 3 people. Nina, played by Jennifer Aniston, a social worker. George, played by Paul Rudd, a gay kindergarten teacher. And Vince, Nina's boyfriend and pro bono lawyer. George comes to Nina's roommate after breaking up with his current boyfriend. To complicate matters, Nina becomes pregnant with Vince. It is at that point Nina decides she is not in love with Vince and asks George to help raise her child. By this time George has become the object of Nina's affection. Of course, George can't and doesn't return these feelings.

That brings me to the reason why I didn't like this movie. All the unrequited love. Vince loves Nina but she doesn't love him. Nina loves George but he can't return that love. Even some of the supporting cast are victims of unrequited love. There is just too much of it for me to get past the story line and enjoy the performances in the movie. And I think the actors and actresses were goodincluding the supporting cast. But I simply didn't enjoy watching this movie.

Poor Jennifer Ansiton. She could be in better movies and \"The Object of My Affection\" isn\'t one of them. Aniston played a woman who got preagant by a gay guy. Not funny about this movie.
