The Odd couple II was not the best movie i've seen. If you like whatching old men swearing then you will probley love it I do not. but the acting was very good and the script was put together well. But my advice to you is don't go to the movies and see it wait to rent it then you could fast foward through parts I would give it *1/2 stars Jan 25, 2000
This movie was a real funny one!! I think that the rating is appropriate and it is a laughter filled joy ride with Felix and Oscar at it again. The movie is great for ages 12 and up--and its worth the money. I personally thought that the movie was hilarious in all ways. Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon are two great actors who portray these roles perfectly. SEE IT NOW!!!! Jan 25, 2000
This is basically a road movie, which is a cautionary sign that the movie may NOT be very creative, bright, and if a comedy funny (Notable exceptions: Midnight Run, Planes Trains &Automobiles, etc.,). So this movie is at its core mediocre, even coming from Odd Couple creator of the originalmovie Neil Simon. I believe movie critic Roger Ebert was right when he said that nobody had the gutsto tell Simon that this script is utter garbage. The scenes with Baranski and Jean Smart as females the Odd Couple meet while staying at the prototypical seedy, small town hotel overnight don't really work. Furthermore, the long-running gag of not being able to leave the town without getting accidentally arrested repeatedly grows tired pretty fast too. The body of this road movie includes other tired elements such as the Odd Couple losing their car in a wreck in the middle of the desert, too much of that noisy coughing and sneezing by Felix (ever hear of the economic law of diminshing returns?), and mild gags gags like losing their luggage and having to wear flourescent underwear to bed at the hotel. I could probably think of other dubious examples if I cared to sit here and think and write about this all day. The problem with movies like this is people like me get stuck in the trap of having to "complete the franchise" by seeing an inferior product (of which is found out only after wasting a lot of time seeing the bad movie) related to previously funny things like the original movie way back in '68 and the great '70s TV show with Tony Randall and Jack Klugman. From the TV commercials though, I could pretty well tell this movie was going to be a bad doozy, but a lot of times I have to learn the hard way like a lot of other people. This movie was only about an 1.5 hours long in reality, but it seemed to me to be 3 hours long; which is one of the surest signs that the movie sucks! Grade: D Stars: 1.5 out of 5 Jan 25, 2000
Jack Lemmon (Grumpy Old Men, Glengarry Glen Ross, My Fellow Americans), and Walter Matthau (Out to Sea, I'm Not Rapapport, Grumpier Old Men) are my favorite comedic team. They are great together as in their recent comedies and older ones. The Odd Couple 2 is a sequel to the very popular The Odd Couple which came out in the late 1960's. In the original, Lemmon became Matthau's roommate and although good friends they realized how completely different they were. Lemmon a clean freak, and Matthau a pig. In the sequel, Lemmon's daughter and Matthau's son are going to get married, this triggers the first meeting between the two in 17 years. They meet each other in the airport where Lemmon suffers an accident and they are going to go on a trip to the wedding together. In the car they get mad at each other, yell at each other, joke with each other, and catch up on lost time. They lose their rental car and have to go hitchhike and do other things to get to the wedding. A lot of funny things happen on this trip and the two realize that they are still very different. Lemon and Matthau are great as usual, and the rest of the cast have small roles. The movie was funny, but a bit overdone early in the film. Grade: B Rating: PG-13 (language) Jan 25, 2000
I thought The Odd Couple II was a pretty good movie. It was pretty funny and all the actors were good, it just wasn't one of the best movies I've seen. I've only seen it once, and don't plan on seeing it again in the theatre. May 21, 2003
Walter and Jack are back together for \"The Odd Couple 2.\" In it the film became a travelog as the two Walter Mattheu and Jack Lemmon travel to attend the wedding of one of their own. some laughs, barely enough to recommend. But it\'s nice to see the two back together again. Looking for more opinions?Check out our Featured Movie Reviews for The Odd Couple II. |
