Let's face facts, any animated movie that is intended for the mainstream public is going to be compared to Disney. As such it begs the question, "Is "Quest for Camelot" as good as Disney?" In my opinion no it is not "as good as Disney". Is it a good movie. I think, yes. The movie centers on Kayley & Garrett who attempt to return Excaliber to King Arthur after it has been stolen by the evil Ruber, a former Knight of the Round Table.

To start off with I thought the animation was fairly good. Not as good as Fox's "Anastasia" but good nonetheless. And they certainly have a lot of talented actors and actresses working on the film including Jane Seymour, Gary Oldman, Pierce Brosnan, and Eric Idle just to name a few. I also liked the music in the film songs by Celine Dion, Steve Perry, and LeeAnn Rimes. Personally my favorite songis "On My Father's Wings" by The Corrs.

Weaknesses I noted are some of the supporting characters such as King Arthur and Lady Juliana could have used more of a development on film. Also the introduction of Devon and Cornwall, the 2-headed good dragon with the song "If I Didn't Have You" was a blatant rip-off of when Aladdin met the Genie in "Aladdin" and sang "Friend Like Me". But when it comes down to it I did like this movie and thought it was worth the price of admission. And judging by the comments I overheard from the children after the movie. I think they liked it also and it really is the kids who will decide if it is worth seeing again.

In writing a review of QfC, one has to take one of two (usually) opposed positions, either one is reviewing from the point of view of the intended audience, or one is reviewing the movie as an adult.
From the first vantage, then, QfC rates as a very entertaining movie - there are knights, good guys, bad guys, dragons (good & bad), swordfights, monsters, and a fairly fast-paced movie. The story is simple, and the good guys are clearly good, the bad guys clearly and unredeemably bad. The music parts are skippable, and there are some good animated action sequence.
As an adult however, there are some extremely weak points in what had the potential to be a good story. First, the animations were very weak (surprising from Warner Bros.) AND inconsistent. The lipsynch was horrible, the CGI scenes -while decently done - screamed at the viewer "THIS IS CGI" and actually detracted from the rest of the picture by making the poor animation quality all that more evident. Similarly, someone should mention to the lead animator responsible for the spiral theme - ENOUGH ALREADY. Sheesh. I understand the concept of continuity supported by motif, but this was ridiculous. The songs (except perhaps for "I stand alone") were pretty sappy, and plot draggers. A kid movie has to be UP UP UP - a 5 year old doesn't have the attention span to CARE about two people expressing their love in an extended duet. The execution of the innovative plot was unfortunately formulaic; I personally think this is an injustice to kids - they DON'T need to be patronized to. In sum, Quest for Camelot was indeed a good movie -- if you're watching it with kids or are a kid yourself.

\"Quest for Camelot\" is a ugly cartoon about a kid who had help from a two-headed dragon, must save both Camelot and his mother. The aminated film is a rush job.
