Everyone’s had the teacher from Hell and perhaps dreamed of kidnapping her and trying her to a bed. Well, I can’t say I ever envisioned such a thing, but I CAN think of a few former educators of mine who I would have liked to have taken out of action with a crossbow. But I didn’t do such a thing. And neither should the kids in this awful horror/drama/whatever it’s suppose to be. Inconsistencies and plot holes abound and I get the feeling the filmmakers don’t even care. Helen Mirren is so far above this material it’s ridiculous. She makes the most of the role of Mrs. Tingle, but the script and direction (courtesy of Kevin Williamson of “Scream” fame) is dreadful. Some campy fun makes the exercise less painful: Coach Wenchell (Jeffrey Tambor) visits Mrs. Tingle with humorous results. It’s also good to see Molly Ringwald back in high school, now playing a teacher (I feel old). She has a good scene when she substitute teaches Mrs. Tingle’s history class. But the unsatisfactory conclusion almost puts this silly feature into one-star land, throwing in a hackneyed cliché or two and leaving the viewer unsatisfied.

Helen Mirren is the best reason why I like \"Teaching Mrs. Tingle.\" She played a history teacher who was tied up by other student by led by Katie Holmes. The film was written and directed by \"Scream\'s\" Kevin williamson. but it was the performance by Mirren that got me noticed.
